GENERAL FUNCTION:
This individual will enjoy archiving activities such as cataloging and organizing new materials, helping update and maintain finding aids and fielding research-related requests that pertain to archiving. The Co-Op will also assist with specific research requests from the museum curator and the corporate storyteller and historian. The Co-Op will primarily work directly with the museum curator to complete archiving tasks and conduct the research necessary to develop content for the museum's exhibits, website and other communications. The Co-Op will work on-site in the archive room in downtown Cincinnati and may occasionally be asked to visit the Cincinnati Public Library and the Cincinnati Museum Center to conduct research.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Assist with archiving, cataloging and other preservation activities.
+ Support content development for museum exhibits and communications.
+ Conduct research using artifacts the Fifth Third archives and other research resources (i.e., Cincinnati Public Library, Cincinnati Historical Society, Newspapers.com, databases etc.)
+ Must be able to tolerate variable amounts of sedentary activity, standing and/or walking.
+ A computer will be provided on-site.
MINIMUM, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
+ Strong research and organizational skills.
+ Detail-oriented.
+ Solid writing skills and/or the ability to develop detailed summaries.
+ Ability to conduct research independently.
+ Skilled at using Microsoft Office products and research databases.
+ Conscientious regarding any confidentiality guidelines of the material that will be handled.
+ An interest in Cincinnati history is a plus.
