Responsibilities
- Support client projects relative to the mechanical engineering of structural components including design, testing, inspection, installation and related technical issues
- Help in preparation of proposals, presentations, and technical reports
- Component evaluation through structural, mechanical and multi-physics FEA - Review client information, generate efficient and accurate FEA models, QA, perform analysis steps, post-process results, and prepare report with documented conclusions
- Develop tools that automate tasks to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Support project manager to meet project goals and deliverables
- Participate in project reviews internally and externally
- Assist with internal R&D initiatives as needed
- Contribute to the growth of the company through participation in technical associations and presentation of conference papers / presentations
- Maintain compliance with Quality Management System processes and procedures
- Maintain awareness and training on new technologies and improvements to maintaining proficiency
Qualifications
- Must have or be expecting soon an M.S. or Ph.D. in Engineering Mechanics or Mechanical Engineering
- Must be knowledgeable in various analysis methods: General Purpose FEA (Ansys, Abaqus), Meshing Software (ABAQUS/CAE, Patran), CAD Software (AutoCAD, Patran, SolidWorks), Programing Language (C++, Fortran, VisualBasic)
- Must be willing and able to travel as needed (10% or less of time)
- Strong academic background in mechanics of materials principles, material behavior, fracture mechanics principles, and nonlinear FEA preferred
- Further knowledge in: Structural Software (STAAD, RISA, Sap2000), Task Automation/Data Analysis (Python, R) preferred
- Ability to balance engineering judgment with business priorities and constraints to deliver high-value work products preferred
- Ability to research and develop sound technical solutions and skills preferred
- Ability to visualize 3D objects from 2D drawings preferred
- In depth knowledge of MS Office Suite required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex situations and problems to those familiar and those unfamiliar with the technical details required
- Ability to work independently but leverage input in complex problem solving required
- Ability to adapt to changing work environments and priorities required
- Desire to solve real-world problems required
- Good people skills such as effective listening required
