The Bon Secours Mercy Health Internship Program is a paid 10-12 week immersive program that will expose students to the healthcare industry while also giving them the skills and experience needed to build a career. The program provides opportunities for mentorship, networking, career & professional development, community service, job shadowing, and exposure to senior and executive leaders. The intern will work under the direction of Bon Secours Mercy Health leadership by supporting the Analytics team on special projects.

Location: Home Office in Cincinnati, OH (other locations may be available)

Dates: Monday, May 18th, 2020 - Friday, August 7th, 2020

Hours: 40 hours per week for a minimum of 10 weeks


* Work with data from Epic/CarePath (EHR - Electronic Health Records System) and Connect Care
* Support Population Health analytics for value-base contracts (claims data from payers - Milliman Database - MedInsight)
* Support data warehousing, BI, Tableau Visualization; collect data from EHR and other various sources/vendors and housing data in one location
* Utilize Tableau workbooks from a user interface and a development view for data accuracy
* Support document testing scripts and creating user process flow documents to support training materials
* Review and updating of data governance definitions
* Document business and technical details, and will reach out to stakeholders as needed to gather this information
* Review of current documentation and training to understand purpose of dashboards and score cards
* Work directly with Population Health Analytics Manager and other members of the Analytics team to learn fundamental population health concepts
* Insure that all user created database tables are included in a catalog
* Assist with testing end-user dashboards, data validation, and data governance projects


* Currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology/Information Systems/Computer Science/Tech-related, Analytics/Statistics, Healthcare Administration, or Public Health
* Preference for Juniors/Seniors/Graduates
* Passion or interest in the healthcare industry
* Familiar with Tableau, Power BI, Python, and Qlik
* Familiar with SQL
* Strong service orientation
* Self-starter with strong work ethic and sense of accountability
* Proficient in Microsoft Office suite - specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint
* Good communication (verbal, written, and listening)
* Strong interpersonal skills
* Must be self-motivated, capable of taking initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing priorities, and effectively manage deadlines
* Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and have strong rapport with the leaders and colleagues
