We are seeking an experienced candidate to serve as an intern in the Special Investigations Unit. Primary duties of the positioninclude:

  • AssistsSpecial Investigations Supervisor with investigations to document the degree offraudulent activity.
  • AssistsSpecial Investigations Supervisor with investigations to document the degree offraudulent activity.
  • Utilizes available resources to gather information forcase support (i.e. conducts internet research on health care providers.
  • Performs customer service ruse calls on provider cases [IME],telephoneinquiries, correspondence, document research& acquisition).
  • Creates spreadsheets with data retrieved from various BWC databases related to possible health care fraud.
  • Assistswith proactive runs.
  • Assists with reviewing claims & compiling informationfor health care cases.
  • Assists with the preparation of investigative reports& allegations.

    Qualifications

    The intern must currently be enrolled in a relevant educational program. Relevant majors include criminal justice, criminology, psychology, and/or sociology.

    Projected Schedule

    A maximum of 30 hours per week. Ohio BWC is open 8am-5pm,Monday-Friday. Work is performed on-site during those hours.

    Freshman $11.56

    Sophomore $12.61

    Junior $13.66

    Senior $14.72

    First Year Grad $15.80

    Second Year Grad $16.85

    Third Year Grad $17.91


    Transportation

    Position may require travel; therefore, persons occupying this position must beable to provide own transportation &/or legally operate a state-ownedvehicle.

    Educational Transcript Requirement

    BWC requires an official transcript for any applicant claiming to meet theminimum qualifications based on educational achievement. A transcript isonly considered \"official\" if it is verifiable through theeducational institution that awarded it (e.g., contains institution watermark,ink stamp, embossed stamp, registrar contact information). If providedfrom an on-line transcript clearinghouse the transcript must containclearinghouse contact information so that it can be verified. Printoutsof course information available to the student through the institution'swebsite are NOT considered an official transcript. In order for educationto be taken into consideration during the application screening process, BWCemployees must have an official transcript on file with the Personnel &Benefits department by the deadline date on the job posting. Applicantsnot currently employed by BWC must attach a copy of the transcript(s) to theirapplication, however, an official transcript will be required if invited tointerview for the job opening.
