That Simon's and Smith's "re-assignments" have nothing to do with the events that resulted in the federal investigation? It's not just one case that was mishandled; this investigation is happening because there's evidence of a pattern of violating the civil rights of victims. There's no real PR "battle" to fight. There's just the truth, and the decision is whether to tell it. The administration would be well advised to heed the words of Jesus: the truth will set you free. Own up, and make it right.
