The Xavier women’s soccer team won their 3rd straight game Sunday after defeating Ball State by a score of 1-0 at the Xavier Soccer Complex. The Musketeers’ lone goal was scored by senior Jessica Brooks. Despite being out-shot 22-8 by Ball State, the Cardinals were held scoreless thanks to freshman goalkeeper Katie Markesbery’s 10 saves. The XU women improve to 3-2 on the season and will travel to Bloomington, IN to face the Indiana Hoosiers this Friday at 7:30 p. m.
The Xavier men’s soccer team was also victorious on Sunday, on the road against Lipscomb with a 1-0 victory. Junior forward Luke Spencer scored scored the single goal for the Muskies in the 56th minute to improve XU’s record to 2-0. It marks the first 2-0 start for the Xavier men’s soccer program since 2007. The XU men will not take the field for another nine days, when they face the IPFW Mastodons on September 13th.
