Basketball Courts

If Xavier had known that the immediate opening of the Learning Commons, the Stephen and Dolores Smith Hall and the outdoor basketball courts would have caused a storm of students to flood them, they would have changed the theme to the week of welcome to “If you build it, they will come.”

Among some of the more obvious changes to the landscape of the campus, one of Xavier’s newest additions are the outdoor basketball courts near the sand volley ball courts.  Taking over half of the R1 parking spaces, three new full-length basketball courts have been implemented to add an additional sporting opportunity for on-campus student convenience.

These courts already have been well worn.  Students from Manresa and other early move-in choices   occupy the courts every night with small pick-up games and some informal competitive play.

The courts have no formal reservations and are a first-come-first-serve basis. They also  require that you either bring your own basketball or rent one from the Gallagher Student Center.  Gallagher allows only one ball per all card at a time.
